Slight knocking noise from passenger side
« on: January 13, 2012, 12:19:28 pm »
Hiya Guys

I was wondering if you could help me?

I've noticed when i drive round a roundabout it get a single knock sound from the passenger side of the car.
Initially i thought it was something sliding about in my glove box, but i'm starting to think it might be something else?!

Is this a tell tale sign of something on a mk5 golf?

Thanks Guys

Does it do it round sharp corners/bends, both ways- left and right?

Top mount, console bush, front arb bushes / droplink, broken road spring are just a few possibilities, best bet is to get the car on a ramp and have a nose around

Hey guys

Thanks for the replies so far!!

I only notice it when i go round a right bend sharply  i.e going round a roundabout.

I have a 3rd party warranty so depending on what it is, i might be covered.

I've not had chance to get underneath the car yet.

I've been listening out for the noise and it only happens when i go round a right hand bend sharply (like a roundabout) when i do that i hear this single knock from the passenger side and can even feel it on the steering wheel.

When i go round left hand bends nothing happens ??!!

You should read this and see if you can relate to it. Parts are inexpensive and may be worth trying to see if it stops it. :happy2:

Hay i got the exact same problem only really at round abouts or sharp turns when i turn right
first i thought it was something in the glove box

its been like this for 6 weeks but notice its getting worse bit more aggressive

i got a feeling its an engine mount the only reason why i say that now
ive had the car lowered last 3week and the ride is more stiff so its doing it more often

also on the motorway yesterday going about 80mph and it was bumpy
i heard it again

feels like its some where at the top near the passenger side

i'm going today or tomorrow to get it checked out
