Dead Battery
« on: January 29, 2012, 12:38:54 pm »
Hi Chaps,

Wonder if you have any ideas, I have something draining my battery, it first happened about 6 months ago, got the battery replaced, as it was knackered and old any way.  I thought it was the glove box light so this has been unplugged since.

Yesterday it happened again so obviously something else is causing it, on both occasions a few weeks before, I have seen the indicators flashing when locked, no alarm though, then a dead battery a few weeks after.

The alarm sounds as I found this out before when I put the battery in.

Could it be alarm modules, door modules? I am thinking that as on some other occasions when locking the car the LED stays lit for a bit before it starts flashing.

Its going to my mechanic this week, but if I could point him into a direction it may help, car is 05 55.

TIA

Be interested to see what your mechanic finds. I have had the same issues, first the battery drain and now have a new battery and all is fine. I have the same with the indicators (done it a few times since owning the car). My alarm light used to stay on before flashing every now and then but now it does it all the time, which is not right.

I have read that when it stays on before it starts flashing there is something wrong with the alarm system or one of the door locks not dead locking, apparently it shows on a vcds scan. Found this out via a google search a few weeks ago and read on one of the forums that it turned out to be a dodgy horn and another person had a dodgy lock
