hi bud how hard was the wheel bearing to do ???

Thanks for the comments, I have also replaced the drivers side bottom ball joint as it had a split in the rubber and decide it was time for a remap  so had a stage 1 done, figures roughly 240bhp and 258ftlbs, more importantly I'm very happy with it, just got to learn to control the power better as you always end up wheel spinning

With regards to the wheel bearing, yeah wasnt to bad took about 2 hours, easier than other cars I've had as the bearing comes in a housing which bolts on to the hub, just make sure you have a 27mm socket and spline bits

Thanks, for a couple of days afterwards I was in 2 minds wether I had done the right thing, but now am really happy with the car,

Remap- 100% has made the car better on fuel, my journey to work I used to get 31 now getting 33 and when I used to have a drive with a bit of fun I used to see low 20's and just been out and come back with 28 ( not to mad but flooring it on the long straight)

I kinda done the same with my golf.

It was mechanically sound when I looked at it but I knew it needed a cv joint or bearing and new front tyres and pads and a timing belt

I got it for a very good price and with only 38k on the clocks
Had the timing belt done and a new cv joint fitted and 4 x eagle f1s fitted within the first few days of owning it.

Also had all the filters and oil replaced, new discs and pads on front, new plugs And a superchips bluefin
( it will be getting all other services at vw I just changed things for piece of mind)

I probably could of just spent the extra money on a mint gti but all the ones for sale within 200 miles of me had almost double the mileage or double the price.

I now have a low mileage car that wants for nothing (except mods) paintwork has a few scratches but the car will be going to a body shop soon, and there ain't much 6 year old cars that hasn't got scratches or stone chips

Like you said, I probably could of brought a good one after the amount I have spent on it however I know what has been changed and what hasn't plus I love messing about with my cars

 Car reving at idle so had a look under te bonnet and the oil filler cap was broken and only a small rubber bit left, so got a new oil cap and car is all good again and whilst I was there I couldn't resist getting some new mats and mat clips

Looks good  it's a nice sense of accomplishment to restore and repair
