Ha ha, I just came on here to post that very URL! Interesting to see they're going for an ally roof and bonnet on the GTI.

190 bhp in the new GTD thought. :happy2:

Sounds tasty but I hope the styling's there!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Hmmm, 25 years of experience in buying Golf GTIs and their close cousins leads me to think a lot of that is wishful thinking!
Most of the techno stuff mentioned will be expensive optional extras, the probable difference in the suspension will be that base model Golfs will go back to cheapo back axles a bit like US spec Jettas, thus the GTI will keep the rear axle we see now but in a wider track (Scirocco back axle?).
The extra torque from the Audi engine would be a bonus and save the re-map or not to re-map issue for many.
And cost? Will it be any cheaper than today's mk6? Do I have to answer that... ?

The hotter GTD sounds much more interesting.

What they will probably do is keep the price the same as now. But with it costing 20-30% less for them to build then they will be making a huge profit.

If i were to pay the premium for the badge i think i'd be looking at the diseasel. But i think i'll stick with the Czech Dream Machine for now

They're the magazine's photoshop attempts.

that article is from 2009, it's on British plates (when would you EVER see a German car on a press release with British plates) and if you look at the 2nd picture the numberplate isn't even in the right format, which i'm sure is a mistake VW wouldn't make.

i'd put money on it looking nothing like that
