The problem here is how do you go back to VW and say "When I have Revo on my car it doesn't work so well".

The service department will probably just roll on the floor laughing and say bye. Or am I missing something here? :rolleye:

as someone said, Mandy and Gti-Mad's(ed30) cars were both mapped by Revo and Both had monumental running issues straight away. I think yours will be the same fella, problem is youve left it too long to say to Revo your a bunch of C..ts.  :signLOL:

Id be going with either APR or R-Tech as a good value for money option personally.

We quite often get customers in for software upgrades after they have tried an alternative product which has caused problems. They will discuss the problem they had with the other tuners software and usually they have then had the car flashed back to stock before coming to us.

After we have flashed it with our own software or Revo we fully expect to have them back within a few days complaining of the same fault, usually resulting in a refund and reflash to stock, this is all part of the tuning business.

What this tells us is that the fault is actually on the car and the software is just highlighting it, and when tuned the increase in power and torque is just enough to cause the fault. Most tuners software for each given engine will have the same/very similar calibration and the end user may have the ability to alter some parameters (i.e revo sps tool). If the fault was with the software its likely that all of the cars flashed with that software will have the same fault, however I have flashed 30+ 2.0 tsi cars with none of them experiencing any issues that the OP describes.

Clutch slip is a fact of having a mechanical manual clutch, not any fault of the software. The other faults sound like ignition problems to me, i.e spark plugs and coilpack issues. These problems are often highlighted with tuned cars, I couldnt count the amount of healthy running 1.8t's and 2.0 tfsi cars that I have had in for tuning that have a plug or coil give up shortly after. This isnt a sign that there was a fault with the software as once replaced for healthy items the problem went away and stayed away, it was a fault with the component itself.

For cars to be tuned they should be in good health, the fact that they are standard and running fine isn't an indication of every component being healthy.

Remember guys a remap is only as good as the car.... Remap a car with under laying issues and you will have fault pop up.   Being a new car dont mean everything is 100% spot on.

The second fault occured 3 months after inters.    If the Revo map was at fault I am sure you would have issues straight away.

Revo do offer a full refund within 28days more than enough time to find out if the map suits your car and driving style.

well the engine fault was due to carbon build up I imagine, this may have built up due to more power, would this be correct?

I find MED17 a lot easier than ME9, for basic stuff anyway.

I was thinking now it is stock I can take it in and see what fault codes are stored, but I am snookered on the clutch thing. Regarding the spark plugs, I find it hard to stomach that VW would use inferior products on a high performance hatch.

Spark plugs can fail at any time, mileage isnt a large factor. I had a turbo go on a VW PD140 that I bought with 13000 miles on, the service history showed that it previously failed after 3 months on the road with just 3k miles on. Car was 100% standard.

\so what we seem to be saying is Revo are happy to take your cash and not at all helpfull when u have issues, blaming the car seems to be std get out clause for them it seems.

From what I can read from the original post it doesnt say wether or not the OP spoke to revo about the isses before the car was flashed back to stock, so the assumption that revo were not helpfull isnt really fair. Revo offer a 30 day money back guarantee and have one of the most clued up and helpfull tech support departments I have ever dealt with.

It seems to me from the original post that Revo were not aware of the issue at all until after the car had been returned to stock months later by the request of the owner.

Not trying to take sides, just  looking at it from the tuners point of view.

I'd say about 70% of the mapped cars on this forum are Revo'd. Since this forum began it's been the most spoken about/taken up map and I've never read of any problems with it until the recent spat of threads concerning cars with fresh maps. Surely it can't be a problem with the software. They've got years of experience writing it, my car ran Revo for 3 years with no issues whatsoever, as did countless others on here back in the day when we all used to have GTI's

I can live with the exhaust light as it could be fuel related and doesnt effect performance of the car, the engine light happened once due to carbon build up, which again I can live with as I have'nt seen a sign of it again. What I cant live with is, is the slipping clutch, and I cant accept it is VW's fault. If the clutch slipped within the massive 30 day revo warranty/refund I would gone back to stock in an instant. And I will not upgrade the clutch on a 13k miles car. A refund would be perfect, a partial refund would be great, being told to get a new clutch and spark plugs is total gash.
I would not recommend Revo to anybody. As I said earlier, I had two APR GTi's, and not a sniff of trouble.

Shame that you have had a bad experience, a different map isnt going to solve anything as clutch slip is an issue with torque output.

But it has to be a weak clutch, otherwise all other TSi Revo cars would have had the same problem. Did you contact Revo at all during the 30 days period? If not then I cant see what more they could have done for you unfortunately.
