Fitting lowered springs......eibachs
« on: January 30, 2012, 10:52:48 pm »
Next job on the list.......

I take it the rears are easy, just pull th old ones and push in the new?

The fronts though, I know I need a spring compression tool, but do I have to have the alignment done after??

Is the set up at the front straightforward with top mount and washers??

Any advice welcome thank you.

The rears are relatively straight forward, just need to swap the springs (that's all I did anyway)
When I did my fronts I brought some spring compressors and a strut spreader. The rest of the tools I had in some form or other.  Some people just use an impact driver to undo the strut nut but I wasn’t that brave.

I used a combination of about 3 guides from the net, here’s just one, have a search for some more.

Best to get an alignment done afterwards.

Rears are 15 mins per side....take out the long bolt that holds the lower pressed steel arm onto the hub - you will see that it carries the spring.

Push arm down, pull spring out,  replace...jobs a good un.

Fronts are quite a game if you are on your own as removing driveshaft and hub is quite a battle, and getting it back together more so. You do right in getting a strut splitter as this helps no end.
