Mk5 gti v Fabia VRS
« on: January 31, 2012, 05:47:23 pm »
Has anyone had a play with the new fabia vrs??

I see one everyday on my daily drive, & tonight I thought why not give it a go??

Anyway after reaching a certain speed on the motorway, he come past like i was in reverse!!

All you could hear was the constant whistle, fair play it shifted & left me embarrased.  :ashamed:

I assume it was standard as it was a 61 plate, also my golf is standard, anybody had similar experiences??

(hides and waits for Janner Sy)

Standard for standard it really shouldn't leave you 'like you were in reverse' - especially not once up to speed.

They are quick little things though......

hahaha brilliant :P

Nobody likes being beaten by a Skoda   ASK JUSSA, he traded in his Revo Stage 2+ GTI in for a stage 2+ S3 because he couldnt stand the shame of me beating him up the strip :driver: :P :P

(hides and waits for Janner Sy)

Im here :booty: :booty:

Not sure why you are surprised tbh.

vRS Standard 180ps@1240kg = 145Hp/ton with DSG and very close ratio gears.
GTI standard 200ps@1450kg = 137Hp/ton

So std vs std he should win.  If he mullered you, id imagine he was mapped.  Mines only 213hp and it'll keep up with a stage 2+ GTI with 280hp.

I had a play with a new Ibiza Cupra in my Eddie recently, was very surprised on how well it kept up with me although I don't pretend to be the worlds best driver!

We only got up to about 85mph due to the roads and traffic so I'm sure I would have pulled away had the speedo gone any further  :driver: but still a quick little car nonetheless!

The 1st 1.4tsi i drove was in a mk5 golf when they were first released.

I wasn't that impressed with it, which is why i was a bit shocked when this skoda one flew by.

Mind you its alot of weight in a mk5 for that little engine to pull!!
