Clay bar after auto gym life shine?
« on: February 01, 2012, 06:57:51 pm »
Car I have just bought has had the autoglym life shine applied, looks great especialy as its black. I was thinking of using a clay bar on the car after it delivered excellent results on my previous black tt. However, I am worried claying the car will take off the life shine!!!! Any info or thoughts? Obviously after calling I would apply super resin and wax to seal etc.

Lifeshine or whatever it is is pretty pants. You had to keep it topped up with the products they're meant to supply you.

Clay will take some if not all of it off. SRP will polish and fill and probably remove the rest. Perfect base for your new wax. Then when you wash, every 4-6 weeks or so you can top up the wax.

Claying and polishing are two different things.

Clay - love the smooth surface clay kit
Polish - can use srp. I reckon uc may well be too aggressive.

If you are going to clay use a soft clay and use a lot of detailing spray/lubricant with it!
You can really easily make things worse with a poor claying technique!
You might end up with a smooth feel but you'll have new marks/etching
