I was suffering with this a couple of weeks ago which cleared up a week ago but has reared it's ugly head again. Doc gave me Naprosyn and said to take over the counter painkillers. Hot water bottles also help.

If mine continues I will revisit the Docs but hopefully not. Mine just seems concentrated down my right leg.  :sad1:

I had the same sort of thing Hedge. It started as Back ache first. A real niggling pain, which then started to turn into bad kidney pain.
Hot water bottles helped loads on my back/kidney area, but I remember having a terrible night.
Then it decided to turn into the most horrendous groin pain which then led to thigh/quad pain.

I was a mess from my right hand side lower back to my right kneeā€¦.and it lasted days. :surprised:

Now I'm already on enough opiates to make a horse collapse, but I was instructed to take more as and when I needed them. I was eventually (almost) pain free, but I was living like a smacked up Zombie for 3days  :rolleye:

Cheers guys I eventually picked up on presciption Diazepam and Neproxen, been walking round today and seem to be better :happy2:

I still have an acute pain in the right side lower back but its now bearable when walking unless I turn awkwardly.

You ll be getting a good nights sleep on them darren!!! Naproxen is excellent but here s a tip for you, a bag of frozen peas. Will only cost you a quid, just lie on them on the painful area for 15 mins a couple of times a day it will reduce the inflammation and help you a lot.

Remember to wrap the bag of peas in a teatowel or something similar or alternatively don't hold them directly onto your skin.  My friend's Dad ended up with the bag of frozen peas 'stuck' to the skin on his back!!!!!  Ouch!

Hope you're on the mend matey - back pain and toothache are the worst.  Glad we don't have to cope with childbirth!  Keep taking the tablets.

All the best

Paul.

Glad to hear there is some improvement Darren. Nothing worse than a debilitating injury/illness.

Just take it that little bit easier in future. Know your limits as it can prove painful if you try to surpass them.

Another back pain sufferer here from an old lifting injury.  The last really bad episode I had was two years ago and I could barely move, rolling over in bed was agony and even the slightest movement from my other half whilst in bed had me screaming in pain.  I was literally screaming in pain in the middle of the night.  I couldn't dress myself and had to have assistance to go to the toilet.  Getting out of bed took about 20 minutes.  I couldn't get in my car, let alone drive, so my mum took me to the doctors (my parents car is easier to get in and out of, and even that took me forever) and was on co-codamol and diazepam.  Since then I've been seeing a chiropractor and have had a couple of mild episodes but nothing I can't handle myself with ibuprofen and paracetamol.  I normally get a really bad episode approx once a year where I'm crippled and out of action for about a week, but get twinges on a regular basis.

There are a lot of sufferers on this forum. I being one of them, get my SI joint injected in 2 weeks time :scared:

Do you think its got anything to do with the seats or suspension on the Gti - could VW be negligent, could we have a group claim

Get yourselves some Recaro buckets (like the option ones) - ruddy marvelous for anyone with a knackered back - morphine not needed after a blast in my RS4, but now very much needed after the GTI.  :sad1:

Quite the opposite - the seats on my car are probably the most supportive I've ever had.  I work in a variety of vehicles at work and have to have a lumbar cushion because they are that uncomfortable..  The GTI seats are awesome IMO.

It seems to have got better as the day has gone on.  Taking tomorrow off to make sure but expect I'll be back in on Saturday.  Once you've injured your back once you know about it forever and I'm used to it now!
