Yes as above. Not 100% of when it changed but pretty sure but the older golfs are oblong and the newer ones are round.

Mines 05 and are oblong.

You can change the part on the floor to either, dealer should be able to order them for you.

Mines '07 & round.
VW genuine GTI mats that I bought arrived with oblong clips on them.
Dealers just popped them off and fitted round clips to mats.
They seem to keep spare clips in stock, so must be quite a common occurrence.
I still have oblong clips in a cupboard somewhere if anybody ever needs them.

Yeah i was caught out with this.

I bought some genuine Golf car mats from the stealers to then only realise that the holes on the matts were round and my clips in the floor were oblong.

Just bought some oblong clips off Ebay for a few ££, poped off the round ones and then clipped in the new ones  :happy2:

I have a 54 plate with oblongs.

Although I am missing one of the clips that turns to lock it in place, anyone know if I can just buy that part and push it back on?

I am actually missing one of these clips on my 56 plate. So would also be interested in a replacement.
