phone to rcd 300 lead/connectivity
« on: January 15, 2012, 12:15:13 pm »
Hi guys just upgraded to the phone 4s  and want to use it in me car for the music as tired of having cds hanging around  just wondering how it would be possible to connect it to my rcd 300 one with cd changer inside.

Was thinking of the mdi dock in the arm rest but have one problem carnt get it in there as its not the right one or if any one knows any one with the right arm rest witht the mdi slot but does this allow me to access the phone on the mfd in the clocks or not.

What lead do i need/connections do i need.

Thanks

Aled

Aled you won't be able to run an MDI with the rcd 300

will only work with RNS/RCD 510.  :happy2:

Going to an RCD310 or RCD510 will be a huge improvement on sound.

as for the Aux input for the RCD300.

Part number 5Z0 051 434 A

Just going from a compatibility list I have which is stating compatible with Touch Phone-Kit

I personally went RCD310 and MDI, never looked back. Now have a charger, full access to playlists etc and shows my song information on the radio.

Im having similar issues in my eddie with the RCD300, seems that i only have a single cd player and not a changer model. Oh well may just look at the RNS510 unit instead  :signLOL:

I bought a "connects2" unit off eBay for mine (RCD500) and it works fine with the 4s, you can change track from the head unit too. Think they are about £60 these days  :happy2:

I'm not sure I fully understand what your trying to do. But if like me you want your iPhone to play music out of your armrest then I think this is what you want to do.

1) Acquire iPod prep kit for arm rest and relevant cables to connect to RCD300.
2) Search eBay for this "DOCK EXTENSION DATA A/V CHARGE CABLE FOR IPOD IPHONE"
3) Acquire a "Scosche passPORT"

So my iPod prep was factory fit and I already had a 6-disc changer RCD300 so all i needed was the cables to make it work.

Plug the Scosche passport into the the existing dock in the armrest. This allows the phone to charge whilst connected. Attach the extension cable to the top of the scosche and tidy cables. I have mine resting in the drink holder.

Setup your 5 playlists like this... "1 PlanB" & "2 Now Music" "3 Top 40" and so on. the 6

Press the CD Button twice to go into the iPod mode. Ext Disc1 is playlist 1 and so on. Ext Disk 6 is everything in your iPhone

downside is you don't get track listing but you get your music so all is good.

I've waffled on long enough hope this helps you.

Just to update to this post I made, I have tried the cable kit on a few RCD300's now. It will not work, even thou it lists compatible.

It does however work extremely well with RCD310/510.
