fun car for 5k ?

cost around 4-5k
can be 3 or 5 doors
fun
track day useable
ideally shouldnt be too horrific to run

suitable to have children in back safely (on the odd occasion)

so far I have

civic type r
integra type r + import
some form of clutter
£2k car (172 Cup) and spend 1.5-2K on suspension and arb, DS2500's and abelts service
clio sport
Clio trophy

What he said. Amazing cars, had one as a daily for about 8 months and the handling/experience is just EPIC!  :driver: Go for a Jap import post 98 if you can.

BMW 330i - Bulletproof reliability (apart from front bushes) plenty of power for the fun factor, the noise of an N/A straight six, great handling and comfortable when you want it.

Strip it out for trackday fun :)
