Rear end project..advice please!
« on: February 05, 2012, 09:51:09 am »
OK, I'm very keen to change the rear end of my 06 GTI to give it that R32 look with the sexy exhausts etc..now I know next to nothing about the whole process. Can anyone recommend somewhere in the Midlands that could take care of the whole process for me?

I think the bumper will fit straight on, the exhaust will aswell i would have thought, although you may have to cut and shut your pipe to the R32 back box

A standard r32 exhaust will not fit at all due to the 4wd haldex system and the exhaust taking a totally different route to the fwd system. Milltek do a r32 style cat back system that fits the gti though. Rear bumper is a straight swap though. Good luck.  :happy2:

I’ve got the BCS cat back exhaust fitted to mine and it’s great. You have to change the lower rear bumper for the R32 one which is really easy when you know how.

Looking at these pics confirms to me that the black rear bumper on the Mk5 GTI looks really cheap , how they ever signed off the design with that bumper in place amazes me - ok on a base car but the GTI should have been fully colour coded.

The bumper will just clip on and as for the exhaust just get it custom made and choose the tips yourself to match r32 ones. thats how I did mine there a few places in midlands, I use RJ in birmingham personally for exhausts.
