Car Mats
« on: February 06, 2012, 01:06:59 pm »
Well apart from OEM mats, Autostyle, and the few that are on eBay, does anyone know of any mats that look great in the GTi?

There are some mats on eBay at the mo for £38.50 delivered that look quite good, and fro the price I am quite tempted.

I just wondered if ant forum members had purchased these? If so what is the quality like? and Do you have any photo's of em in the car?

They do em in Red, Silver and Black. For me it would be the Silver or the Red ones, but I kind of feel like the silver ones will show the dirt really quick.

Anyway here is what they look like…. (the red ones and the silver ones)

Here is the link….

TBH I would love to buy the Autostyle mats, but at £72 they are very pricey  :surprised:

…….TC, any chance you have got a photo of the Autostyle mats you had in your GTi?

i got some auto style ones and wasn't massively impressed, as you know, they cost a lot. Still felt quite cheap. they fitted well, but i wanted a better quality carpet similar to what you'd find in an OEM bmw! no such look.

the ones in the pic look gash btw! who does them?

I had some autostyle ones too, About £80 inc postage, lost the quality very quickly and the material didn't feel very good or absorbent at all.
Got rid of them in the end.
I can get genuine GTI ones for £54 posted if you are interested? Much nicer quality and has the GTI logo on, and red piping.

I agree with you there Jay!
Ive never had a problem with my Autostyle mats, but Al's OEM GTI mats could be the best option to go for! :happy2:

Personally a fan of these myself -
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GTI-Carpet-Mat-Set-Anthracite-Golf-MK5-/170754706113?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27c1c60ac1

Don't have but will get them when mine need a renew. I prefer the red stitching compared to piping and prefer the way the GTi is stitched in, rather then looking like a patch has been stitched in each individual letter has been done. Much more pleasing on the eye if you ask me!

Yep, those are the same as the ones I got, he wouldn't reduce them so found them elsewhere.
Mine are the pin style ones, which is a shame as my car has the twist style, but they came with the pin part too, so will change them over when I take out my winter rubber mats.

I loved TopCats auto style ones in his mk5, but at that price, with some of the reviews I don't know???
I love Genuine mats! Ive has 2 sets of ed30 mats and one set of gti mats. I always paid around £60-£65 at the dealers, but the way the drivers side wears out, I was wondering if it was better to buy some cheaper ones with a heel pad.

Then I thought, even with a heel pad, it makes no difference. The heel pad will wear out and look tatty just like mats without the pad. Then when they look tat they need replacing.

Hmmm £54 is a great price Al. Is this a one-off set?
I will have a think mate.  :happy2:

Know this thread is a couple of weeks old but stumbled upon it trying to find Mats for my ED30. Have found a manufacturer of mats that look same as ones pictured on interweb -

http://www.ultimatecarmats.co.uk/default.asp?manufacturer=2550&model=2604&gclid=CJ7s7trMwK4CFVRItAod0X9GCg

My car came without mats when i picked it up a month ago, looked into OEM ones from stealers,  at price! The ones i got were £45 inc p+p but they may be cheaper without edging or with different logo ie GTI.
They seem to be holding up to the daily wear and tear so far, cant complain.

In the car

Anyway, thanks for info :happy2:

love the ED30 but i'm not keen on those mats. but if it does it job, then i guess its down to owners preference.

I grant you that they are not perfect but 1/2 OEM price speaks loud! Tried Stealers but to no avail unless I wanted the GTI ones. Is it the "understated" EDITION 30 logo or the dayglo edging, have just realised I am a (not so secret) Chav!

Cheers Martin
