Hi,

I have just bought a 2005 Gti and my rear badge is riddled with white worm!

How did you paint it?

Does the badge prise off or do I have to take the whole handle out?

It all depends if you have the first gen boot handle or the second gen. The first gen was only a 1 piece handle whereas the later second gen was 2 piece and you could do what maxitrol has done. :happy2:

I asked the question because Maxitrol has the first gen I think and I wondered how he painted it?

I have seen somewhere that you can prise the older flat style badge off very carefully with a credit card/flat screwdriver (or is this the later version?)

I was then thinking of colour coding the boot handle and covering with a rear badge from a MK 4?

This was my 56 Plate GTI with the 2nd gen and you could prize the badge off the handle, it didnt look to me like the MK4 badge would fit unless you glued it on but then that was about 3 years ago that I last looked.

Once its off you can re-paint both parts if required and it should just slot back into place.
