Has anyone used Gtechniq G3 on their windows and is it any good at beading water?

I had my driver's window smashed in Oct and the new glass isnt performing like my others despite numerous coats of window polish.

I used G3 on my car before winter. It lasted maybe 6 weeks on the windscreen and around 10 weeks on the side windows. Useless on the rear.

Doesn't stop the need for wipers but does shift the water off at lower speeds. I think the G1 needs speeds of around 60mph.

Would you say worth a try on my side windows then?? Is it negated if you use window polish over it?

I've got G1 on my windows and it's spot on. Once you get about about 40 you don't need to use the wipers but obviously, as Stealth has already said, it doesn't completely eliminate the need for the wipers. Below 40 its useless. The G3 is supposed to work at even lower speeds but at the expense of durability.

Don't use window polish over it. Prep the windows with G4 glass polish and then apply G1/G3.

If you need to clean the windows, just use the likes of Fast Glass.

I did a test last year with gtechniq, carlack and rain x.

Whilst the carlack glass sealant kit outshone them both, the rain x performed miles better than the gtechniq after a couple of weeks.

I'd save your money and nip to halfords on this one!

I tried G3 and it seemed okay - the effect did work at 30mph or higher. But I always had problems with a slight smear on the windscreen, which would clear but very frustrating. It also lasted only a couple of months but the general sealant effect was still working four months later - it would sheet water beautifully, leaving a perfectly clear windscreen!

+1 on this, carlack glass kit last and lasts.....and is cheaper
