I'm sure you're right - you get what you pay for and all that - but what don't you get with the Karcher?  Less foam?  Takes longer?  Foam runs off car?

Ive got a karcher snow lance and it covers the car in foam much better than the first pic denotes. What i would say however is the foam tends to run off after a short time. I am using auto glym pressure wash solution

I just got my lance from Cleanyourcar about 2 weeks ago (when it was snowing and -5degrees all the time ) and it's a proper piece of kit.  Definitely worth the spend in my opinion.

Is there a real benefit to using snow foam as opposed to a wash mitt for example? Does the foam really dissolve off ALL the dirt?

There is no such thing as a truly touchless wash. A snowfoam will help loosen dirt and get the worst off but it won't leave the car spotless and hence still needs to be followed up by a 2BM wash.

Think of it like washing dishes from the night before - soaking them first makes it easier to clean!

I had a quick go of my dads Karcher yesterday afternoon. Its got a mixer/shampoo bottle built in the top. Was quite rubbish TBH. Tried the seperate lance with bottle, pic you posted, and it was considerably better but the liquid is expended in about 2 minutes and struggled to cover the car in one go. Couldnt get any way near as good as the Audi pic posted.

Took these yesterday, pictures are of when it had already started to run off the car.

The foam was discoloured where it dissolved and pulled away dirt from the heavily soiled areas.  It made the 2BM wash a lot easier afterwards.
