midline to highline on a '58 tsi
« on: February 17, 2012, 03:55:09 pm »
is it possible???

i've got a '58 GT Sport 1.4tsi 170 DSG 5dr with cruise, i seem to see lots of people doing it on slightly older golfs, but some only seem to offer it on cars up to 2006/2007.

if it is possible, what do i need and what does it cost??

its it just a new LCD screen, or do i need a complete set of new clocks

sorry for the dumb questions, but i'm just starting this journey

thanks

Hi mate YES it can be done, you will need the complete cluster, yours will be a 974 cluster and will need to be coded by someone like morty or kalu

Thanks for the reply.

Does your cluster have the boost guage rather than a water temp guage?
If so, how much :)

And who is Kalu?

No just the water temp mate

Kalu is a member on here who can recode the immo on the 973 and 974 clusters

You don't have to fit one with a boost gauge

If you like the boost gauge, you can add the Polar FIS that will display boost and other live data

as its all electronic these days, could the temp guage be made to act as the boost guage?

No you didn't hit a nerve. But you can't make a boost gauge out of a temperature gauge unless you are a magician.
the cluster is a complete unit, although it is possible to take it apart. To change the function like that would require certain hardware and firmware changes.

:signLOL: This topic lost me a lot of hair - time and money.

Changed mine - clocks were like rocking horse poo......out had to change soooo much stuff as I wanted the multi function steering wheel to work as well.

I have to change....
clocks
Slips ring
and steering wheel controller module

and someone to code it all. Does depend on what you currently have and what you want. I think the expense part mainly comes from adding the multi function steering wheel.
