yeah, i've got that idea from reading a couple of threads.

i need to find out exactly what i need and then decide if its worth doing.

i dont really want to lose the boost gauge, but it looks like i gave to in order to do this.

i've also taken a fancy to the mk6 steering wheel rather than the mk5 :cry:

Best bet it to complete these questions, then you will get your answers

What dy you have?

- Car, make model, year etc
- Slip ring part number ? (behind the steering wheel)
- Steering wheel controller part number (again, under the steering colum)
- Obviously, clocks part number
- Oh and do you have buttons on wheel and the moment

There can be a big knock on effect and depending on what you want to do, you may have to replace ALL of these

however one question, how do you take the wheel off to check the slip ring?

A VCDS code read will tell you what extra parts you will need mate

and from that you can work out if you need a new slip ring mate

hmm, so find someone who  can do a code read, or shell out £200 for a code reader

Wheel easy - disconnect battery, remove airbag and remove centre bolt - unless you know someone with the above

There will prob be a member near to you who would do a complete code read for you for a few beer tokens, but if you do get a code reader, get VCDS nothing else, VCDS will pay for its self many times over in the amount it saves you
