cam follower/fuel pump questions
« on: February 18, 2012, 11:23:04 am »
I've got a 2005 mk5 gti and when I went to buy a cam follower from the stealers they advised me to get a £9.50 rubber seal marked number 2 in the diagram ''they recommended me to get it'' so I did..
but when removing the HPFP I did not see a seal.. the only seal I seen was the rubber seal on the HPFP.. does anyone have any knowledge on this?? thanks...

That seal is on the fuel pump, perhaps not clearly shown on the diagram.

Do you have the P/N?

The colour is a little irrelevant as it may be a modified part but having bought one in the past myself it does seem expensive.

reuse your old seal, the find the ETKA number for the blue O-ring on your reciept then someone here can find out where it fits.
Unless you damage the O-ring on the HPFP there no need for a replavement O-ring when replacing the Cam follower  :happy2:

Over the top mod list ;o)

I can't find the P/N so im going to phone the VW dealer I went to, to check on their computer when/what I bought etc

also found this it's the best guide i've seen on the net even though its an audi same stuff

also im VERY scared to take the HPFP off again to be honest because when I took it off the first time.. one out of the 3 holes the bolts go into to hold the HPFP looked shredded  :chicken:

just phoned VW they told me the part No is WHT 005 184

also asked them what is P/N 06E127248 then? they said it was the same thing as WHT 005 184 but WHT 005 184 is the new one and the 06E127248 is to be outdated...
