« on: February 19, 2012, 09:52:55 pm »
Was just looking at Greeners pirelli and thought i may have made a mistake and should have gone for the DSG

I have had my manual gti now for 3 months and i do love it  :signLOL: But i wish i test drove a DSG to see what its like

How does looking at a gear knob make you think you have made a mistake.  :stupid:

Do not, under any circumstances, test drive a DSG.  It's for your own good.

They're just so much better!

Couldn't disagree more with this chap.
It's all down to personal choice.

I test drove a DSG Eddie before I settled on a manual.

Absolutely hated the DSG. Manual all the way for me.

I've driven DSG but in a non GTI car. It was cool but pales in comparison to the manual when you get the shifting bang on perfect.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I drove both manual and DSG ED30 before deciding I wanted DSG, I think if you drive in traffic (like most people these days) DSG is handy, stick it in D and relax your left leg, if your an enthusiastic "Driver" and want maximum control over gears and dont mind replacing your clutch regularly if you stage 2 your car then manual is the way to go

All my 7 of previous Golf GTI's were manual and this time I chose DSG as I just cant be bothered to change gear these days, plus DSG box is faster at changing than me and is lower on the Co2 if your a tree hugger  :happy2:

Can of worms yes, this my opinion only? very much so!.

I test drove both (albeit the DSG was a mk6) and really liked it; however I was also impressed with the slickness of the manual...and with most of my driving being in the town on the daily slog to work, and having put up with years of warranty issues on previous cars, I played it safe and went with the good old manual  :happy2:
