Brake Fluid Change
« on: April 28, 2009, 09:45:08 pm »
Had my car serviced yesterday (30K Service) and thought the brake fluid would be changed but the dealer said it is only done every 3 years now, is this correct??

So for me that would mean doing at least 100K miles before it's changed which doesn't sound right to me  :chicken:

wow, there is someone doing more miles than me....
I'm on 20.5k now after 14months and thought that was a lot compared to some of the "Garage Jewellery" drivers out there  :signLOL:

I thought the brake fluid was to be changed every 2 years? I know it's not based on mileage. Had mine serviced this month and the brake fluid was last changed in Feb 08 and the dealer said it doesn't need doing till early next year.

Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years, even from new. It absorbs moisture over time (hygroscopic) and reduces braking effort.
