DSG Oil Change, How Much?
« on: September 24, 2009, 10:30:00 pm »
As per the title, how much should this cost me to get done?
Been quoted £164 by JCB in Medway(Main Dealer), but £132 by Youngs in Wrotham(Independent specialist)

Also as my cambelt is due in March next year when the car is 4 years old, would I benefit in any way by getting both jobs done at the same time?

Thanks for your replies in advance!

Both prices sound about right. Thought the DDG was done at 4 yrs. Mine was done by main dealer as part of the service.

Other post say that cam belt not always required.  Inspection after 4 years look to replace between 60 & 100k.

Think I will be getting mine done soon. Very expensive if it goes wrong  :scared:
No Golf anymore.
Enjoyed the last five years of ownership of Mk5 & 6 GTIs.
Plus an excellent forum for knowledge and new ways to deplete the bank account.
Thank You Everyone.

DSG doesnt have to be at 4 years.

A DSG oil change is due at every 40k miles.

with the DSG service I would recommend getting it done at VW rather than a Independent, not as simple as changing the engine oil.

I wouldn't normally recommend them but..

they have to heat up the dsg oil before it can be changed and sounds like quite a complicated process, all the VW service centres are equipped to do this where as independents might not be, so just worth checking
GTI Edition 30 - Reflex Silver now gone but not forgotten - Cooper S JCW now.

Thanks for that James, didn't realise it was so complicated. Is it worth getting the cambelt done at the same time do you think?

DSG sounds about right, prices for the DSG service have dropped - it was £250+ about 15months ago

I'm assuming only about an hour based on the cost.
