Sorry DV valve question
« on: March 04, 2012, 02:25:12 am »
I have a 06 GTI and i want to change the DV valve. I have searched but not the correct info i need. So Rev D is the most up to date that i know (may be wrong)
I need to know where it is located, what step i need to take to change it and tools. Pics would be perfect but i may be pushing my luck
Thanks in advance

Rev D is the most up to date one and is a piston design, but a few people prefer rev G which was the last revision of the rubber diaphragm design.

On a normal GTI (not ed 30) it is located just behind the drivers front wheel. You can either put it on some ramps and change it or the way I done it was jack up the drivers side, wheel off, arch liner out and change it then put it all back together. Took me half hour and cleaned behind the arch at the same time.

I'll look for some links later for guides as there's a few knocking about

Thanks for the reply, is it deff the drivers side, how do you get the liner out just pull? and from what i have read its just a 5mm allen key i need to remove the 3 bolts holding on the DV? Also did you loctite your screws?

Thanks

Definitely the drivers side (if your car is RHD) the arch liner is held in by a few screws, I tried to do mine from underneath on axle stands, tbh the 'through the arch method' is much easier.  Iirc it is 3 x 5mm allen key bolts, just remove the connector plug undo the bolts and off it comes.  My mechanic did mine in the end during other work so not sure about locite, can see that is necessary though.
