Shadow Blue: Blue Velvet or Purple Haze Pro?
« on: February 25, 2012, 05:33:53 am »

Should I use Blue Velvet or Purple Haze Pro wax for my Shadow blue MK5?

Also, when using these, what is the best polish and sealant to use please?

Should I use a coloured polish?

Thanks,

Ian

VC had a similar issue: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,40497.0.html

TBH the finish adds very little, except from the colour charging. The final effect is very subjective. I'd advocate buying the panel pots that Dodo do and do a half'n'half on the car. Polish depends on whether you're hand polishing or machine polishing. Sealant again is subjective. Liquids - look at jetseal, menzerna powerlock, poorboy's ex-p. Solids - look at FK1000P.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Either, I used both of the above side by side on my blue car and couldn`t tell the difference.

I bought the panel pots as Stealthwolf says and had all 4 different waxes on, they all seemed to produce the same finish to me.

There was a thread on DW where someone had put 3-4 layers of each wax on a small portion of the bonnet of a white van/car. You could seen the colour effect but it was subtle and took 3-4 layers to see whereas most people will apply 2.

can i throw one in the mix, raceglaze 55 !! get a panel pot, i paid £68 for a full size.

or try chemical guys 5050 wax. i would also glaze before applying the wax, and even seal.

a glaze and sealant is good enough, something like jetseal 109, but im a massive wax fan, for that extra depth you get.

I wouldnt bother with the colour pots of DJ. It ruins all your sponge applicators and dyes everything blue in the wash.
