DSG Map Advice
« on: February 28, 2012, 06:38:23 pm »
Having driven manuals and slushmatics for many years, I absolutely love my DSG.  But there is one little niggle that I'm tempted to cure.  I blame all you modders!

On the odd occasion that I accelerate hard in manual mode, I sometimes change up a fraction late.  In other words, I pull the 'up' paddle just as the engine approaches the limiter and DSG changes up for me.  This results in going up two gears instead of the intended one.

Now, I'm not interested in hammer-in-the-back up changes or ridiculous revs on down changes, but I'd like manual mode to leave it to me.  If I'm being sensible, I've also got better things to spend my money on.

So, 4 questions:
Would a software remap solve this and if so, who should I choose?
What else would it do?
Does this cause DSG reliability problems?
How much will it cost me?

Revo stage 1 dsg map will let you run in true manual mode i.e. it won't automatically upshift at red line in manual mode .  Apart from smoother shifting, the clutch torque limiter is raised to around 368lb ft.
If you have no issues with your dsg atm then you shouldn't have any after the remap.

Costs really depends on whose software you use as there are other options apart fom revo...

I read on a post on here somewhere that Revo DSG maps dont work well with other engine maps, seems they built something in to stop higher power gains? or using other software, maybe im wrong but I read somewhere that someone had an issue.

I have not read problems about using Revo Engine and Revo DSG remaps rtogether tho

sorry to intrude but i also got a Q on the dsg map...

I'v read that the DSG cuts power at 6200rpm... and the remap also takes that away and let it run all the way to redline ? Is there much more power there to be made?

Some claim to see more hp and torque after the remap as the mechatronics unit doesn't start cutting power towards red line.

When I asked, they said stage 1 is fine to work with other remap companies.
My gear changes felt smoother after revo dsg map also.
I Think my peak rpm and torque increased by about 20bhp and 30lbft after dsg remap

Sorry I should have been clearer, I was referring to stage 2 and stage 2+ engine remaps having issues with revo DSG remap specifically having problems.

I dont know what the difference is with a revo stage 2+ with dsg, I'm waiting for the twincooler to arrive at PDT before I go to stage 2+
anyway heres some graphs

shark stage 2+ before dsg map

shark stage 2+ after dsg map

same remap after a few months of running car with normal day to day driving

revo stage 2+ without dsg remap
