Me too. I dont need a practical car. I really loved the Mk1 Cab, not so much the Mk3 and Mk3.5 Cabs, but the Mk6 model is really nice imo. I like the Audi A3 version too, but the Golf pulls it off better.

My brothers missus has an A3 DSG convertible in White (Polar white?) looks identical colour to my candy Ed30 when side by side, nice little car for her but my brother looks like a tart in it, its deffo a ladies car!

made me laugh having seen silver 1.9tdi A3 cabrio one driven by a silver haired lady today who didn't understand the term keep at the entrance to a hospital

can see Dovercourt Battersea doing a roaring trade in those GTIs

I just don't see the appeal of these type of cars - Golf Cab, Megane Cab, Focus Cab etc - they all look like a big pile of mince to me.

If you want a roadster buy a roadster (S2000, Boxster, Z4) - not some half-arsed attempt at one.

To be fair though, they offer totally different levels of practicality and versatility. I once considered an S2000 before I had children and I concluded that it is only suitable as a second car. Whereas I've had an 11-plate EOS for a month now, and although it's far from being a sports car (heck it has Passat underpinnings), it's a nice car to cruise around in with the roof down, and so far we've managed with two young children. If the GTI offers the same levels of performance, handling and practicality as the hatchback it is based on then I reckon it might be a decent enough car.

I had an S2000 for three years (2004-2007) and it's been my favourite car I've owned so far. I did enjoy a bit of top down motoring even though it meant everyone could see my baldy bit

Christ no, I didn't buy the thing, I'd never do that! It's on loan to me from VW while they sort my GTI
