Found some random damage..
« on: March 02, 2012, 04:20:44 pm »
I was tightening some screws today at each end of the dashboard, while doing this my T20 torx bit came off the screw driver and fell down inside :( This was on the drivers side in the area behind the side opening where the fuse box is. Does anyone know how to remove the bottom of that area so i can try retrieve it?

Also when trying to get to the Torx bit i noticed some random damage to the door area which baffles me, not sure how it could have got there. I've got some pics, wondering if anyone thinks this might indicate an accident in that area or reckon something has simply got caught between the door and frame (which is what i think might be the case) I find it hard to believe that i haven't seen this damage until now, 9 month after having the car.

Looks like damage not repaired to me as the damage on lower part of door does not line up to damage higher up on hinge side.

The damage on the last pic does line up with the damage on the door itself. It's jut a bad picture. I've looked around the door and areas close buy and it doesn't look like there has been anymore major damage or mangles bits of metal. I've owned the car about 9 months now, the previous lady owner had done a bit of damage to the passengers side of the car but thats all been repaired properly.

On your 2nd pic (with finger in picture ) the damage does not line up it looks to be about 10-12 inches higher up

If you are refering to the plastic with the bonnet release handle, then you need to remove the handle, there is a plastic (cotter pin type securing) that needs to be pulled out on the far side from the door opening.  that will release the handle, and there is a screw top left then wiggle it loose, you might find instructions on how to remove the piece on bluetooth kit install instructions as you need to route cable through that piece.

Thanks for the reply mate, I'm referring to the area in pic 2. Just above the area your talking about.. It's kind of fallen behind the little storage compartment close to the fuse box. Not a major problem as its not rattling when I drive. I'm just very particular when I know something's not right.  :stupid: not a good way to be in most cases lol.

Any one know if it would cost a lot to get that damage sorted?

I've come to the conclusion that something has been trapped in the door as theres no other damage to the door or anything.
