Edition 30 Trade in Value
« on: March 03, 2012, 11:47:19 am »
Out of interest how much do you think a trader would offer me for my Ed30? Something else has caught my eye... :ashamed:

2007 DSG, 70k miles, Steel Grey, Full VW Service History, Convenience Pack, MFSW, Highline Computer, RNS-510 DVD/Nav.

...and how much could I expect privately?

Thanks! :happy2:

Private Sale 10k maybe 10.5, trade in probably 9 to 9.5k depends on how much they want your business and also if they know how much ED30 values have dropped in last 12 months!.

I was chasing an ed 30 and thought I found the right one.
It was:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3533124.htm

He sold it to a dealer for 11,700 in the end. I had offered him 11,600
The dealer now has it up for 15,695

Dealers are not called stealers for nothing ;)
If you've got the time try selling privately.

Thanks but gee I didn't realise it would be that low... paid 13k for it just over a year ago! :(

I would try selling privately but I'd need the cash from the sale of it to pay for something else and can't really be without a car for too long...

Someone was saying on another post about ED30 prices so I did a quick 20 min check on both ebay and autotrader and prices for 07 platers with 80K miles started at 8495 going upto 13K for 20,000 mile fully loaded 08 plates, I was ignoring the stealer prices of £15K, they should be  :ashamed:

Stealers are happy to buy and sit on them for 6 months in the hope of making 3.5K  :surprised:.

I was looking at another Candy white 08 plate (3dr) with DSG otherwise pretty basic and it went for 10650 at BCA auction (1 owner car with 32K FSH), that very car was bought by a stealer who promptly put it on his forecourt for £15995  :surprised:

For Candy White add another £500 to £1000 (depending on seller) and for pistonheads and forum sales add another £500  :signLOL:

I paid 11.5K for my candy white ED30 39K FVWSH, fully loaded except for Bluetooth, folding mirrors and Cruise control (This was retro-fitted for £90), I then allowed another £500 to spend on it to get it upto scratch.

When I first started looking early last year they were going for around £15K, by the time I had saved all the money for buying one they had come down about 2.5K  :happy2:

lol that sounds like just my luck, to buy last year before they dropped in price!

I had a quick look on eBay etc too and I reckon I could get maybe £11-12k privately but I don't hold much hope of a price I'd be happy with from a dealer... That one for £8.5k on eBay was a CAT B.

To be honest I thought they'd hold their value better. I had my Mk4 Anniversary for 2 years and in that time lost £2k on it and that was with trading it in!

Sorry should have added that all the prices I quoted were from 2 weeks ago and none of them were cat B/C/D cars I ignored all of them from my search, all were straight original cars.

It would be nice to think you get 11-12K for an 07 plate as I think its worth it, guess that would make mine worth 13-14K  :happy2:

Current ones Auto trader........none of them cat B/C/D

57 plate manual 87K FSH Black 8695
07 plate black 8950
07 plate black 8989
07 plate silver 41K FSH 10700 (Seller says its number 988 from 1500, AHEM I think he means 2300!!)
07 plate Red 54K FSH 10700
07 plate Steel grey DSG 32K FSH 12995 (Dealer)

Ah thanks, although it's made me even more sad about how much they've come down in price! This has foiled my plan somewhat as to getting a different car!

I guess a car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it but a lot of the time it's much less hassle just to part exchange...

...definitely will be taking off all mods before I do sell to recoup some money there!

There will be someone who wants a Steel Grey (nice colour) DSG car and will pay for it, removing mods before sales is a good way to get money back as Moddded cars dont seem to sell for any more than std?

I traded in my 07 ED30 manual with 60k a few weeks ago, most dealers were offering £7.5k and the best i managed was £8k - totally mint, just had major service (inc cambelt) so no money needed to be spent on it

Well thats a disgusting price you were given ! What did you buy to replace the ED30 and how much did you pay ?

My ED30 is an 07 with 19k and i wouldn't let it go for under £12k (private) , it is the best all round car i have ever had and cannot think what i would replace it with for less than £20k so hence i haven't got rid of it . Now if an Audi S4 Avant 2010 came up i might be tempted but they are a bit more than 20 !

You'd have been very happy with that car - i spent 2 days with the DA getting all swirls, etc out so it looked mint (few tiny stonechips on bonnet) - wish i'd kept it now

traded it in for a new Astra for economy, Astra was up at £9k which was cheap so not a huge mark up on that.
Kept the Astra 4 weeks as it was awful - 31mpg, crappy electronic handbrake, rattles, no power whatsoever and so dull to look at - traded that for a Fiesta Zetec S  :rolleye:
