GT TDI Fuel Injectors (probably wrong site) trouble come on techies look at this

I have 54 plate GT TDI remapped 2 years ago to 196 BHP (love leaving you lovely standard GTI drivers behind).
I am having trouble my mechanic thinks its faulty fuel injectors, but I want to check..
ok here goes...... after long journeys (say 150 miles plus) next morning the engine feels seized, takes a few lumpy turns as if battery flat.. then kicks out a ton of white smoke and after 5 mins is ok (yes has oil and turbo is ok)... short journeys stop left a bit then start, most times starts first time and a little white smoke then again clears... its not glow plugs..
ok mechanic thoughts... one fo the injectors are leaking into the bores, so when it comes to compress its not air filled (so instead of compressing air its filled with diesel and is solid (hence the siezed feel) then turns lie its siezed and battery flat then kicks in and the white smoke is the diesel burning off... thinks presure could bend conrod, now dont want to buy 4 injectors (as only one could be effd) and they are darned expensive... nearly £500 each (unless you do the fleabay thing) its got 110k miles... I dotn want to invest lots of money so dont want a replacment engine..  oh its code BKD

Does it do it every time after a long journey?

If you think that is the case then after an overnight park up and alleged filling of the bore with diesel then pull out the injectors to see if one of the bores is indeed filled with liquid.  You might need to bar it over by hand to bring each piston to the top of it's stroke.

If you have got fuel filling one up then I think your days of driving it are numbered.  Likewise I'd be surprised if it wasn't getting into the sump as well.

I assume it's not losing coolant?

I'm having the exact same problem, my cylinder head is getting replaced next week, having whole new top end bar the cams and injectors, the injector seals look the likely culprit so have your mech take the injectors out and replace the seals first off.

Is that because of the remap, porous head or a combination of both?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that sounds like the classic symptoms of a badly porous head (common on the BKD engine). You'll need to get the cooling system pressure checked

Trek, I think the porous head on mine has been there for some time, Id say a good 3-4 years it seems to be once its there it doesn't get worse??? it just stays ive been sitting on it for some time just losing coolant at probably a rate of 5 ltr a month I was topping it up every day but then it would go for maybe 6 weeks without a drop lost.

The whole top end in mine is being rebuilt by Darkside, cost me in the region of £xxxx

If you need a coolant top up then it's highly likely as others have said you have the dreaded porous head.

If the bores are filling up enough to hamper starting then you risk hydraulic locking it or bending something.  If they are filling with water then you may also start to get corrosion but it depends on how long you leave it between runs and if you are topping up with coolant and not just water.

Rich you defo have a porous head Ive gone the expensive route but the one that is gonna last, I bought a brand new head through Darkside but its having whole new bearings and seals plus new cambelt and waterpump the only thing transfering from mine is the injectors and cams.

Its cost a lot of money but at least I can say whoever gets the car next is not going to have any problems
