Water pump
« on: February 25, 2012, 08:13:20 pm »
I'm getting my timing belt and water pump on my Leon Cupra TFSI on monday, is there any easy access to the water pump for me to put a small mark on it or see if it dirty etc so that I know that its been changed?

Won't it be easier to just ask them to save all the old parts for you when you collect the car?
Without traction power is nothing!

I'm not collecting the car, my wife is, she's dropping it off there on her way to work and the dealer is leaving her to work.

The water pump is exchange so she can't bring it home.

I can't believe with the amount of people on this forum that no one can pin point me to where exactly the water pump is. I had a Focus RS before this car and had I asked the same question I would of had an answer within the hour and there was only 4501 of them produced.

Without looking I'm not 100% is can be seen with the plastic cam belt cover on.

This is a view from the left of the engine as you look at it when opening the bonnet. Its the Toothed wheel, middle right.

Thanks for the reply  :happy2: I was afraid that it might be in there. Thats it then with something like a 'O' ring behind it?

I think I'll mark a few bolts and note their position.

Should have kept the focus then  :P

I'd be more concerned about ensuring the offside engine mount bolts were replaced.

That's the ones you want to be marking.

Thanks Stu thats the ones I did mark, I put a scrape on both at different angles to each other. I have bought the top THS engine mounts and I will get new bolts for them myself even if they are replaced. On the gearbox side is there any that need replaced?

No because you don't need to removed them.

Just to let you know, the water pump cannot be seen due to the plastic cambelt cover. :-(

Cheers, the coolant has been changed and the 2 bolts are in a different position to where I marked them. I hope to get the knew ones this week and I got the uprated engine munts yesterday too.
