RNS510 - Storing movies on HDD
« on: March 04, 2012, 12:02:05 pm »
Pondering if any way at all to get films stored on the RNS.

Put one one my SD card but it ain't reading it (.avi).

Is there any version which allows this as the glove box is not looking pretty at the moment with all these kids flicks!

The RNS510 is very limited in this capacity - you can only play DVD discs and they must be burnt in the DVD format and layout. It won't play any other type of video.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

You could try ripping the dvd to sd using a ripping program like dvd decrypter (old outdated software but free) or try a trial version of Anydvd that allow you to rip the dvd to hdd (21 day free trial but it's expensive).

Be aware that unless your SD card is formatted to ntfs you'll be limited to a dvd file of <4GB unless you shrink the file size to be within the file limit.
