Remapped or not?

I have just bought a Edition 30.

Its had a couple of owners before. Its a standard car with just factory options and the seller,a really nice guy by the way, said he had often thought of having it mapped but had decided against it.

I have driven a couple of Ed 30's recently, 1 standard and one mapped.

I normally drive a standard 06 gti so not a zillion miles off 230 bhp, but I'm pretty sure that this one is mapped, its got more torque than an estate agent. How do I tell for sure other than do a side by side drag race with a standard ED30?

Couple of options, could go to a tuner and get it rolling roaded, or what I did was plumb in a boost gauge and see what psi it's kicking out

Its deffo mapped!

I have a marker point on a dual carraigway. It exceeds the speed of my gti by at least 15mph at that point and that of an STI 8 I had several years ago by 10mph..

. Edition 30 has a different turbo, so its bound to be different to the gti. no good just making assumptions!
Do you know of anyone nearby with vcds? they could simply log the boost values to see if it is mapped or not

It's got a shed load more grunt than 230 bhp. I reckon it's faster than my formula ford racecar. Doesn't stop or corner quite as well..   :)

On the other hand, I don't get quite as wet when it's raining.

What I'm sort of saying is, I sort of can tell the difference between 200 and 230 and 200 and 290.

What sort of 0-60 times would a typical mapped ed30 do.

Just a quick couple of goes, it seems mine is pretty much sub 6 secs.
