G201 Sensor - ABS Pump/Control sensor module
« on: March 07, 2012, 12:15:17 am »
Both ESP and ABS light came on the dash permanently, checked it with diagnostics and it turned out to be the dreaded G201 sensor

Since its quite a common fault, VW knew about it but didnt admit it.. typical!

They do however offer a repair service kit at a price of £600!!

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Anyone else use the repair kit or any other method of repair?

I found this on Ross Tech regarding the repair kit -

Quote
When found in MK60 ABS/ESP Brake Systems:

Check if the Repair Kit documented in TPI 2024465 or 2025290 with the Part Number 1K0-698-517-B is compatible, using the Repair Kit allows to replace the Hydraulic Unit (N55) and the Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201) separate from the Control Module which will reduce the Repair Costs.

The repair kit used to be around the 200 quid mark.  I've got to do one on an A3 so I will check the price I can get them for.

I've had the same issue with my Touran for a yr now. Cheapest fix all in I found was £450.
VW originally said they would pay 75% then reverted back saying it was 2mths out of warranty   :fighting:
Even after several visits and a letter to HQ no joy! I even suggested timming belt and service at same time to sweet talk them. No chance! I've just left the light on!
