Wheel allignment

Car passed its MOT on Saturday but one thing they mentioned was uneven tyre wear on fronts. They are wearing on insides so camber is wrong.
I just booked a laser allignment in Christchurch and asked them to swap the front for the backs , booked in this Saturday.

Total cost will be 48 quid which I thought was a bargain expecially as I had the same thing done on my 911 two years back and it was 110 quid .

Does that price seem right?

I think I paid closer to £120-130 when I had mine done. That was a full alignment set up.

Is this exactly the same as what the stealers call a "4 wheel geometry alignment"?

I'm asuming so as when i had a polo and changed the wishbones they told me i needed this, but just wondered as the prices was extorsionate, iirc they wanted something like £500.

I just called them again, they said as a GTI has a lot easier set up than a porsche 996 its def 48 quid all in. So looks like its right.

They said it depends on vehicle but gti is that price as they are easier to adjust .

Yes 4 wheel allignment, plus the one in christchurch has the 30,000 hunter machine so its more accurate than any dealer rubbish .

 I will let you know next week but what I do notice is everyone says how well the GTI handles, well I have had it for nearly a year and I think the handling is rubbish. The reason for this maybe is my allignment is well out though so hopefully it will improve next week.

If the geometry is set up properly, you can basically go round corners faster. The car feels less sketchy and more planted.

I didnt even realise that it was different to tracking
Just found 3 local places with ww.alignmycar.co.uk, think I'll be gettiong it done properly after the WALk has been fitted

Jamma it's more likely that toe in/out is your problem not camber

I have falken 452's and I know what you will say now , I know they are not pilots or vreds but I had hanhooks before and they were rubbish too . So much under steer . Anyway getting it sorted and my other half is having our first child soon so I won't be using the car much she will although she prob won't be liking the fact it's a 3 door lol

Falkens = understeer. No wonder you think the chassis is rubbish. I had them on the front of my edition 30 when I bought it, and they were hideous.

Good luck with the birth, everyone seems to be having kids at the moment.
