I'm not a fan of the current A3, but this one is just pure blandness.

Ahhh... Wonder how much of an improvement it is then, will be interesting to drive a mk7 GTI to compare it to the mk5. :-)

If VW/Audi went for a revolutionary new design it would make the outgoing model look much more dated, sending the residuals crashing and pissing off the existing customers in the process.  Softly softly catch a tiger...

 :indifferent:

I owned an A3 sportback when they 1st launched them and liked the design when new.... I think the A1 is fugly from the rear.... and a mistake to bore the range by cloning them....

boring, dull, unimaginative, pointless facelift  :fighting2:

80 kgs less weight, longer wheelbase, better weight distruíbution, new suspension, active mech. differential

- it WILL handle MUCH better !!!

And wait till to see it on your own, it's NOT just a larger A1.  :booty:

is the longer wheelbase gonna make it more fun to drive? Sound like the reverse to me.

Less front heavy ( + wider track, less weight etc. ). Why you expect it to be less fun to drive?

Longer wheelbase - slower turn in? Its slow enough as it is on the mk5 chassis.  :signLOL:

In general - yes.

But keep in mind 80 kgs lower weight, better weight distribution and increased track width. This
will outweight some mm longer wheelbase by far. The optional active diff will improve both traction
and cornering even more.

A BMW 1 series has a much longer wheelbase compared to a Golf. Does it have a worse turn in?

I strongly believe the new A3 and Golf Mk.VII GTI will run circles around the Mk.V/VI platform GTI.

Terrible.

+1.

Looks just the same as the old one from the side, and like every other Russian Doll Audi from the front. Get some imagination and creativity, Audi is going down the same road that Peugeot went down.

Good news for current A3 owners though, residuals won't suffer as much because people won't know you're in an old shape  :signLOL:

Gone but not forgotten : mk2 Golf GTI 16v, mk4 Golf V6 4Motion, mk5 GTI Storm Developments Stage 1, mk5 GTI Revo Stage 1, BMW 330ci, Skoda Octavia VRS Revo Stage 2, BMW Z4 Sdrive35i.
