MK5 golf / jetta wing mirrors

Hi

I don't mean to sound dumb but are the mk5 golf and jetta wing mirrors exactly the same as i brought some folding wing mirrors with p/l's to fit on my jetta. I went to fit them on this evening went to the hassle of stripping it all out and changing the cases and lenses only to find that when i to refit them the boss that bolts to the door was to big to slot back into the door so i put it up against my original mirror i had just taken off and ye it was bigger than my origianl one so i'm just wondering if there different. Any help would be greatful.

they should be the same, what part number is on the mirrors you have bought?

Hi mate cheers for your reply the only markings i have found on the plastic part of the boss on the o/s is HU RLR >ASA< And on the n/s plastic part of the mirror boss is HU RLL >ASA< But when i tried fitting them to my jetta they were too big and when i compared them to my jetta mirrors the boss on my jetta mirrors looked smaller.

You could have been sold one from an EOS or passat which won't fit.

The jetta and golf front doors will be identical

thanks for clearing that up bud weird that i brought the mirrors off two different sellers that claimed that they were golf mirrors and when they come through the post they both look identical to each other but completely different to my jetta ones and i always thought the golf and jetta ones were the same. I'll have to find a passat and an eos to compare the mirror boss's.

To everybody with a jetta on here if your thinking of putting folding mirrors on your car Mk5 golf mirrors with definately NOT Fit VW comfirmed it this morning for me.

So don't go buying mk5 golf mirrors thinking they will fit like i did because they won't.

just had a look at 2007 Jetta mirror housing and done ATP search and result is jetta and golf

Hi Mate thats a good program you've got i'd like that  . My mirror boss's are def different my boss's are that little smaller and more curved along the top of the mirror boss and when i tried fitting the new mirrors they wouldn't fit so i'm confused i don't even know how to upload pictures on here other wise i'd show you.
