Your paying for the research and development of the next device though. Apple use their profit to help fund the research into the next device that's coming online. They will already be about 6 months into the development cycle of the iPad 4 by now. That costs money.

You drive a car that probaly cost a few hundred to maybe a couple of thousand to make. But we all pay massive margins on them as it funds the development of new technology.

After all the Mk6 Golf is cheaper to make than teh Mk5 yet I don't remember VW dropping the price.  :rolleye:

....Perhaps Apple use both TNT and UPS. For several years it's always been UPS in my neck of the woods.

For me it's always been UPS for Macs, and TNT for iPhones, iPads etc.
