Do you not use auto brightness? I find that helps a lot especially if I'm reading a book in bed etc

The only thing that does bug me is it doesn't work like they used to. It will go brighter on its own but it won't dim unless you switch it to standby and back on again. I preferred it when it would dim/brighten as needed. The iPhone is the same these days.

Yep, I use auto brightness, but I've never found it does much.

The battery monitor on my tablet shows 87% of the battery life is dedicated to the screen

Make sure you only use the new charger and cables that came with your iPad. The old cables and iPhone chargers don't work on the new iPad for some reason.

Seems I'm not alone with the battery drain issues.

And for those of you saying the battery life is improved, I wouldn't listen too much to Apples claimed battery life as this doesn't take into consideration how much power a certain app uses. Normal web browsing for example is supposed to drain more battery in the new iPad than the iPad 2.

...its worth noting too that for ipad newbies when youre done with an app, double click the center button and shut it down properly because otherwise you can end up with all sorts still running

Lol, are you sure you've got one Carl?

They will work, but they'll also take ages to charge it. Even Apple have stated that.

I don't seem to have a problem. I have used my iPad pretty much all day  a few times since i got it (circa 8-9 hours) web browsing, listening to music on it, playing the odd game, reading a book, watching the odd youtube vid etc and the lowest i have got on the battery is 28%.

What apps are you using?

Why would i lie about it? Would you like to see a picture of it and my order details from Apple?

They will work, but they'll also take ages to charge it. Even Apple have stated that.

Which is my point. They do work. Deako said they don't when they do. I charge mine up over night  when it is required so i never notice any problems with charging.

I'm only joking mate

When you said fine I assumed you meant there was no difference. To clarify, yes the old chargers work, but they take an awfully long time to reach full battery.

Yup i read those reports. It even takes longer to charge with it's own charger. Apparently it can take upto an hour after the iPad reports 100% to reach full charge according to what i read on iClarified the other day.

http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=20864

Maybe that is where some people are having a problem. As i said mine get's done overnight so it is probably sat on 100% for at least a couple of hours and i am using a spare iPhone charger to charge it with.

One thing i have noticed is that the 2m cables don't work with it properly for some reason. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. It's not the cable as it works fine with my 4S
