Dressing Wheels Arches - CG Bare Bones
« on: March 07, 2012, 10:13:18 am »
Hi guys, I'm looking for an extra durable and effective product to dress my wheel arches. I've read a lot about Chemical Guys Bare Bones.

I was wondering if anyone had experience of it, or any other products to recommend?

They will always get dirty. I would consider a gtechniq trim sealant, though would be difficult to apply, I imagine.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

It's for colour more than anything. I wash them with a Vikan brush but ideally I'd like to restore the depth of black colour.

I keep toying with the idea of trying Aerospace 303 - just put off by the price :ashamed:

I considered it for the more visible plastic trim, both exterior and interior, but ended up going for Auto Finesse Revive which is superb.

I've ordered some Bare Bones so will report back.

I got Bare Bones last year but found it very runny. Maybe use a cloth to spread it on your arches as it drips heaps if you just spray as the bottle says

I use Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel on tyres and plastics. I need to get the wheels off to do inside the arches properly.

So I tried dressing the arches with CG Bare Bones. The results were pretty impressive, but the durability wasn't quite what I had hoped for. I also used almost a whole bottle for all four arches!

.
What's wrong with just a high pressure jet hose to clean your wheel arches?

Mind you, my car is low enough not to see the wheel arches...........

.........Unless the wheels are off!:

Much as i love my car clean i can't see the point of pissing about with the wheel arches. Bucket of hot soapy water & a sponge & a good wash & job done. First time out on a wet road & there covered in crap anyway.
ED35. Standard factory condition.

....Agreed. But we are in the Detailing section here and it's where folks like the show and possibly more than the go in some cases.  :happy2:
