Dressing Wheels Arches - CG Bare Bones

As my car isn't lowered yet, so when washed the arches are discoloured, so they're light grey, instead of a deep black. The CG Bare Bones gave a deep glossy finish, but I guess once I lower the car this won't be a massive issue.

Does the CG Bare Bones glossy finish serve to reduce the crap sticking to it?

From that point of view I'd be interested in doing it.

Think yourself lucky you have plastic wheel arch liners. The Octavia has a fabric soundproofing liner which is a right royal pain in the arse to keep clean. Even scrubbing with a brush and using the PW with the wheels removed it still looks filthy.

The only plastic bit in the wheel arch is as you can see in the pic below. The remainder is that Fabric which goes all the way round to the sill on the opposite side. Obviously you could remove it but that kind of defeats the object of it.

My rear arch liners are completely fabric, and you're right, they are a total pain to keep clean.

I keep toying with the idea of trying Aerospace 303 - just put off by the price

I have that and put off the price as its good to use lots, so autoglym bumper and rubber spray  is a decent alternative.

I am considering removing it and covering the wheel arch with sound deadening before replacing the plastic liner part only.

As above, doing arches is part of the "detail" in detailing IMO. If you were gonna do the car properly, I'd do it as part of it. For me, I'd only bother if it were pre-show eg night before. Otherwise it's 2-3 times a year max.

Sorry, I wasn't meant to infer that I didn't think it was durable because I had to use lots of the product, simply that I had to use a lot and that the final effect didn't last too long.

If you can get the wheels off or can get access fairly easy then you can try autosmart trim ultra - linseed based dressing lasts ages if applied to a clean plastic surface(exterior only) also worth a mention is Valetpro's Dionysus trim glitz along the same lines as trim ultra. Both need time to dry/cure. these aren't vogue products but are def worthwhile.
