I went wild deer stalking yesterday with my daughter - She needed to take some pics of deer for a school project. This was not going to be at all easy I thought. Deer are a prey animal and extremely alert and able to move away from percieved danger very quickly indeed.

So, armed with a couple of small digital cameras, off we went. I used to have a fairly comprehensive kit of Nikon SLR and then later a Canon EOS-1 system but it all got far too much gear to lug around, especially on Rez in America. So I went to the other extreme and bought a Pentax Optimo(?) which was so small I had difficulty operating it. I now use a Fuji FinePix F11 6.3 Meg and it ain't the latest.

Here's a couple of results which I have to say, although not award winning, I'm pleased with : -

I think these pics just go to show that, though small pocket-sized digital cameras have many limitations, they are a practical way of grabbing good pics and always better than by using camera-phones.

The stalking process reminded me of this : -

^ Posted many times before but still very funny.

The F11 was a brilliant cam in it's time - I bought one for my parents' anniversary. The F31 was even better but after that, they've been going downhill. I have the F50 and it's okay but it's no F31fd.

Some nice pics.

Useful info, Master Stealth :happy2:

I wonder if it's worth trading up to a F31fd - I've just read a couple of reviews.

^^I know you don't use ebay but used F31fd cameras on ebay go for more than new ones.

That's why I bought the F50fd - I thought it was better to pay £150 for a new camera rather than one that was a coupla years old. The only good thing about it TBH is the fact that it's slimmer!

Perhaps it's a case of "If it works, don't mend it!" - I still want to do my VWR engine mount.
