Golf V old s**t Skyline
« on: March 08, 2012, 11:39:25 pm »
Right i work with a lad who is a nice bloke but has a habit of talking sh*t, he owns a skyline N reg i think, he believes its the dogs back wheels and claims the skyline was the first production car to do the RING in less than 8 mins in 1995, who cares, he also claims it will do 140mph in 3 gear :stupid:, but the one thing that really makes me laugh is when he trys to tell me VWs are crap and nothing can touch a nissan :signLOL: ok he has pointed out the GTR which yes is a top car, the polsar WAS a good car in the 90s but when i come back with, the R32, mk5 GTI Audi R8, im told nissans are better built and faster (speed isnt my bag, thats why i own a diesel) im of the age that remembers a nissan needing a welder following it so it didnt fall apart whilst being driven

can anyone give me some come backs to put him and his rice burner in its place......

Is that why there are more Nissans on the roads than VW's?

A friend has a GTI-r and he is forever replacing the made of butter gearbox.

Yes the Skylines are quick but only when tuned and I think then the reliability hits the pan.

Just a couple of thoughts.

Old skyline=mess...

I agree some of them like the old subarus are work of art! The power from a 4cy turbo boxer engine is great even by today's standards!
Nissan GTR is a great car and has shown that you don't need to spend 100k+ to get sub 3seconds to 60

And the civic type R reliability is great

The old skyline tho....why are people always changing the engines to the single turbo!
I'm not a fan of them at all,

Say to him lets go somewhere where the birds are an ask which car they like more

If I'm not mistaken the GTR R34 were about 280 -290 BHP and similar lb/ft Torque; 0-60 sub 5secs and limited to 155. In standard form were quick particularly then in 95-2000. Won a lot of the Australian touring car series at the time I think in Gp N spec. including Bathurst; Tooheys 1000

.

I thought all GTR32/33/34 were 276bhp and limited to 112mph under Jap law (maybe taken off/raised at import?)
