3810 and version B
« on: March 09, 2012, 08:23:03 pm »
Anyone updated their RNS510 version B with josi's modified 3810 firmware?

I've found the interface more laggy especially when inputting data into the satnav. Could be coincidence but I've also had SD card and DVD/CD error messages despite using the same SDHC card for over two years. The satnav also wouldn't read V8 maps on DL DVD and v7 maps on SL DVD but did copy across v7 maps on DL DVD.

Very frustrating.  Has anyone else experienced these issues?

No mate.

To be honest you would probably be better sticking with 2760 as although these firmwares are being made compatible they are designed to run on later units. So it always introduces bugs by mashing 2 firmwares together.

Have you tried a normal 3980?

Nope. I plan on going back to 2720. Just seemed to cause more hassle than anything and the only benefit I've noticed are prettier route colours and icons for the three alternative routes.

2720 or 2760 will be better for you on a B.

FWIW i have an LED version RNS for the Skoda and it is laggy on 3984. But not had the errors you have said.

I wondered whether the sdhc card errors were just down to the sdhc card. I plan to try a newer one this weekend.

Wasn't sure about the dvd/cd errors though.

It would be unlikely if it's one you have always used. Plug it into a computer and see if it works ok.
