Hi all,
I'm a bit confused with the cars Diverter valve. Over the last few weeks I've been sure I can hear a slight air leak when driving the car at high rpm coming from the turbo. I've checked all the intercooler hoses etc for cracks but found nothing, only one of the hoses was a bit soft for my liking, so will be swelling more. My next task was to take the DV off and see if the rubber diaphram was burst, and sure enough it was. I hear this is quite common.
After having a wee read up about it, a lot of people have performance problems, lots of noise and engine lights coing on. I have none of these. The car still pulls like it should, I think? I've not had it long so I'm not entirely sure. It maybe drops of a little at 6 - 6500rpm, but not hugely noticeable. So I have a few questions.
1. Is this normal, do different cars show different symptoms for the same problem?
2. DV's I've seen in other pictures, their diaphram is orange, mine's green. What does this mean?
3. I've noticed differing revisions of DV, my ones part no is 06F145710B, from a 2005 model GTI. Do I need a D or a G version? Are there more, whats the best one for my car?
4. I want OEM part not a fancy one that makes a noise, I've grown out of that lol! I phoned VW today and they want £175 for one, so is there anywhere else that sells OEM VW parts online for cheaper?
When I spoke to VW today they told me this wasn't a recall part. I think thats totally shocking considering it happens so often and that VW know about the problem and have even redesigned the problem part.
If anyone can help out with some answers I would be very grateful.
Cheers
