Someones scratched my door on the filler piece that goes down the middle horizontal to stop car doors denting you door. does anyone know the part number or where to buy? i need a black magic right set for a 5 door. Or should i pay someone to fill and spray? (surely more expensive?)

Just happy it wasnt the door and only the filler bit.

Hello mate,

I feel your pain mate. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago.

These are the part numbers for the PASSENGER side, and prices from VW.

Passenger door trim 1K3853515AGRU  £39.73 + VAT (VW)

Rear quarter trim 1K3853535AGRU £26.07 + VAT (VW)

You'll need slightly different prices, but it'll give you an idea of price. There is also a thread worth looking at with advice from some of the more experienced Mk5'ers.

Top Cat had to do this, and see his comments on what he had to do.

I'll give you a link to the thread. I think we should bring back capital punishment for these idiots!

 god thats so expensive for two tiny plastic pieces. im gunna try and polish them out as there not too deep then maybe some vw paint pento fill then tcut and polish again to level out and blend in.

Or pay for them to be touched up by someone..

It is a lot of dough for what it is!

I will try TPS on monday, to see if we can get them cheaper. never got round to it before. I'll get you the part numbers for the driver's side. Is yours a 3 dr?

I'm still not sure what to do myself. Apparently they're quite hard to get off. Are you going on 24th / 25th to Coombe Lodge / Grasshopper? If so, we could have a chat about it then.

it'll probably be better to try and repair your ones whilst they're on the car as removing yours then refitting replacements may just never sit right...

i know.. might just pay for a respray. that would be good mate give me an idea of prices. yeah i am for sure so we can have a moan together! Looked into it and they are a pain to remove.

Apples you might be right on that one.. mask everything off etc.. ill speak to the mobile repair guy who always has his lunch on my road and get his opinion in orice and cost.. either that or ill spend a whole day wth the touch up pen and pilishing machine. there was a scuff on tge door panel i didnt see until later but got that out with tcut black really easily :/

If I leave mine on, and fix them, 'll need to do  a bit of filling as well. I might do the same, fill them, wet and dry the filler and then the whole of the strip, prime it myself and then get the bodyshop to do spray and lacquer.

Getting them off sounds as if it could affect the door itself, which would be a disaster. I'll get the price for new ones anyway, but I reckon you are right, it might be best to 'make do and mend' as they said  in WW2!
