Diesel torque arm insert

Well after seeing Richwig83's write up on fitting the insert I have been considering getting one now the GT is mapped. Only question I have is powerflex do 2 different ones for the diesel. One which is slightly softer supposedly so you do get much vibration. Just wondered if any diesel drivers here have them fitted and which one you chose.

Yeah ok mate thanks. I think the softer diesel one is red and the normal one yellow.

How much would that be?

Have 2 brand new and one that has been removed from the box and is a bit grubby but never installed. New ones will be £15 posted. Grubby one £12 posted.

Matto, I have these fitted in both my vRS (petrol - yellow insert) and swmbo's GT (diesel - red insert).

i fitted one in my diesel, bit of a mare to fit, but one thing it did do was show up the fact my DMF isnt great the vib was so bad i removed it within 50miles

Really?  Took under 15 minutes to do mine, and that was including jacking up etc.

Did you use the copper slip to lube it up before insertion?? Ooer...

yeah used that, in the end i also used wd40 and the tranny jack, funny it took seconds to get out

Which one did you fit? The red or the yellow one?

well theres the thing it was the red one, still to this day cant work out why it was a mare

It seems its abit hit and miss as to whether you get an easy or hard one. Just wondered on the colour as the red one is listed for the diesel. How did you find it once fitted other than showing your DMF up?

Yeah it was ok, the vib done my head in, but i should have added i fitted the p/flex bottom arm bushes at the same time, the whole lot made the car firmer to drive, the following week i fitted my coilovers and to this day i still wonder, you see i fitted my coilovers on the ramp at work and drove out the garage with the steering light on (thinking it will go out once i drive in a straight line) anyway it didnt i got about 2 miles home lost all power steering and it was the torque sensor was furbed, i had a s/h subframe and rack in the garage so i swapped the whole lot, i have read on the net that the racks on early cars are a little soft so it could have been the harder suspenion or the vib there the subframe or even the ball joint splitter when i took the legs off, i never did refit the bottom arms with the P/flex bushes, didnt want to temp fate

Superpro also do a version for the diesel cars.  It's a really nice feel compared to the Powerflex imo with minimal increase in vibration.  They have only just released this new compound after months of testing.  It's very slightly higher in price than the Powerflex but I believe it to be better quality.
