After a GTI Whats Next ?
« on: March 10, 2012, 08:03:27 pm »
Well since my Golf GTI is being picked up on Wednesday by its new owner (fingers crossed)  :signLOL:.

I have been considering new cars, I fancy a bit of performance mixed with economy. I have viewed and test drove an 09plate 330d and wasn't impressed seemed slow, has anyone ever had one that could advise me thats the way they are ? because I have had my heart set on one

I wish I could get a 335d, but being 24 I am limited on insurance, been quoted 1150 quid for a 330d. I just thought a car with 230bhp & 500 Nm 369 lb-ft  :jumping: should have a bit more punch from the turbo but it felt flat, maybe I'm comparing it to my GTI too much.

Could always go down the tuning route

if your gti is stock the bmw will be as quick, they don't feel fast due to build quality and the the fact the diesel is quieter because it only revs to 5k, not as much fun mind
BMW 335d msport touring lci. Auto, estate and diesel! Oh no

I have a client who works in green energy accounting, so his 370Z had to go, and he went for a 123d. He's a total rev-head, and he can't believe the performance considering the economy he's getting.

I am lookin at makin the same move, i have test drove a couple of 330d and am happy with how they go, the lower revs of a diesel and the way the power is delivered in shorts bursts maybe why you think it's seems slow. I just need to find what I am looking for and i will snap it up.

....Good call!!  :happy2:

The BMW Z4 sounds great, but............... :

^ Classic words from the Z4 driver at the end.

Driving in Europe can be rather more fun than the UK. Although I have been caught speeding in Belgium on a very similar road. No points thank goodness and I don't mind a fine quite so much.

"I've gotta get a fooookin' supercharger on this. I'm not havin' that" !!!!

It's the way he says the F-word in his northern accent which cracks me up. He's a bit of a character anyway and quite a contrast to Sir Henry. I suspect that Lady Henry sat alongside has seen it all before.... Many times!

Now if that had happened in England the Police would have used that vid as evidence and thrown the book at them rather like they did to our mate Ron on here. It's not actually dangerous and no tailgating or sudden swerving etc, it's just speed.

I never really thought about the 123d, but looking as there figures, they be worth a test drive  :happy2:
