Yeah had mine stage 1 for about 12months it's brilliant for a diesel. I drive quite sensible now as im fed up of filling this up with the mileage I do. I'm getting 520miles to a tank - £70..

its funny as on baby bmw forum, most 123d owners have come from hot hatches, it seems a logical step to me.

....I went the other way: From a RWD straight-six shooting petrol BMW coupe to a hatch which I made hotter. I like BMW's but I'd stay loyal to petrol.

Might go and have a test drive in one tomorrow  :popcornsoda:
Steering feel and handling is miles apart though  :happy2:
Which would you say is better?

Bye Bye Edition 30.

i agree red, what i meant was that, they are a hot hatch with a more grown up feel and with the current issue of trying to run a car in this day and age, £115 per year to tax, 500 miles for £70 quid and 200 bhp they are a great option, as for the petrol v diesel thing, most know my feeling on this, petrol engines are much better for pure driving feel but sadly with the milage i do  i just couldn't justify running a 135i, if only :signLOL:

....Isn't that's a bit like asking which is better between a blonde and a brunette? - Depends on personal preference perhaps.

....Yeah, I sympathise with all those enthusiasts who do mileages such that a diesel makes more sense. I'm lucky, and not as wealthy as most would think, because my mileage nowadays is very low.

I can imagine the steering to be any more dead than the mk5 so I'm guessing he is saying the 1 series is better.

I can imagine the steering to be any more dead than the mk5 so I'm guessing he is saying the 1 series is better.

The BMW by quite a margin imo, steering 'feel', turn in and handling are simply better in every respect  :happy2:

Given the choice i'd take a DCT 135i although the 123d is a close second and for most people the sensible choice given the running costs etc, i've driven a few now (more 135s though) and always been impressed but can't seem to gel with a manual version for some reason so would go for a DCT or stepauto
