Is there any condensation/water in the upper tail light? If there is it sounds like water has got in from the rear washer jet (a common problem) dont go to VW as theyll quote you a new spoiler plus painting/fitting just to replace the light. The light can easily be replaced without removing the spoiler.

As for the wiper, im stumped  sorry!

Unfortunately unless the light is already hanging off the spoiler, you'll have to physically break it in orded to get it out of the spoiler.
Without traction power is nothing!

Think there was a guide on here or on www.golfgti.co.uk
ED35. Standard factory condition.
